Client Overview
Bunnings Hervey Bay required replacement and upgrade of the existing timber fencing along the site’s eastern boundary, where the store’s service and loading areas interface directly with neighbouring residential properties.
The boundary is exposed to regular operational activity, including truck arrivals and departures, forklift movements, loading and unloading, and equipment movements within the service lane. With sensitive residential receivers immediately beyond the boundary, the acoustic solution needed to manage direct operational noise.
Wallmark was engaged to deliver a purpose-designed durable acoustic barrier providing effective separation between the operational areas and surrounding residences.

Engineering Solution
Wallmark delivered a DuneWall® acoustic noise barrier extending approximately 213 metres along the eastern boundary, with heights reaching up to 5 metres.
The system incorporates 75 mm, 15 kg/m² acoustic panels rated RW28, supported by hot-dip galvanised steel posts. The barrier was designed to provide effective acoustic separation between the service and loading areas and neighbouring residential properties while accommodating the varying requirements along the site boundary.
An approximately 18-metre section incorporated framed 15 mm clear acrylic panels at 2.4 metres high, maintaining acoustic separation while allowing natural light transmission through this section of the wall.

Project Outcomes
The completed barrier provides a purpose-designed acoustic interface between Bunnings Hervey Bay’s active service areas and neighbouring residential properties.
The combination of DuneWall® acoustic panels and clear acrylic sections responds to the functional requirements of the site while delivering long-term durability and low-maintenance performance.
The result is a robust acoustic infrastructure solution designed around the operational demands of the facility and its residential interface.
