Overview

Wallmark delivered a 166 metre acoustic noise wall, 4-5 metres in height, as part of the Keysborough South Community Hub development. The barrier incorporated corten steel, transparent acrylic panels and custom concrete sleepers to achieve acoustic performance and architectural integration. Works included complex footing solutions, construction over service infrastructure and re-establishment of temporary road access after torrential rain.

Delivery Challenges

  • High groundwater table (~3.5m) impacted footing design and methodology
  • Melbourne Water easement required increased structural thickness
  • Wall section required spanning over sewer infrastructure
  • Acrylic panel lead times required programme management

Engineering Solution

  • Installed bored pier footing system to suit site conditions
  • Designed 750 mm × 1000 mm cap beam spanning 6 m over sewer
  • Increased structural thickness within Melbourne Water easement
  • Manufactured and installed custom coloured concrete sleepers

Outcomes

  • Delivered 166.139 m of acoustic noise wall infrastructure
  • Achieved finished wall heights of 4 m and 5 m as specified
  • Constructed to N2 wind category engineering requirements
  • Achieved architectural design intent and programme continuity
