Mining industry

Noise barriers in the mining industry must eliminate or reduce noise created by:

  • crushers used to reduce the size of large blocks of minerals and/or coal
  • vibrating screens used for sizing minerals and/or coal
  • slide chutes used for transporting the minerals and/or coal through plants.
  • the engines, horns and reverse sounds of trucks and excavators
  • heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

Government bodies advise that these noises should be eliminated if possible, preferably by noise control at the source. Where such noise emissions cannot be eliminated completely, however, emissions should be minimised by best-practice noise control and operational measures.

If you work in mining construction or development, it’s your duty to reduce and manage noise pollution, and it’s our job to deliver the solutions that help you to make that happen.

Tested to meet Australian engineering standards, our modular barrier systems have been specifically designed to successfully manage unwanted noise created by activities carried out on a daily—and often nightly—basis within the Australian mining industry.

Not only have our products been approved by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), our reflective noise walls also boast an acoustic rating of RW28 and our absorptive walls an NRC rating of 0.95. These superior acoustic qualities make our solutions the go to choice for many companies who work in the Australian civil infrastructure sector.

We’ll help you design noise barriers that move with your mining site

Easy-to-install, lightweight and long lasting, our custom-designed modular solutions can be dismantled as quickly as they can be installed. This is beneficial for mining companies in particular, as work sites and equipment often need to migrate from region to region. Working with modular solutions thus saves you the hassle of having to start your noise reduction systems from scratch if you ever have to relocate your mining site.

Why work with us to manage your mining noise emissions?

Minimise noise pollution to comply with legal obligations

Wallmark noise barriers offer exceptional acoustic properties that help to harness and contain noise emissions created by work carried out within the mining industry, as proven by their RW28 acoustic rating. Working with materials of such high quality allows you to rest assured knowing that your workers and on-site visitors are well protected from your operation’s noise emissions.

Create a custom, movable, fire-resistant barrier system

Pre-engineered to up to 12m, fire-resistant and sturdy in cyclonic winds of up to region C, our modular panels can be custom designed to meet great heights and pre-tailored to adhere to your region’s wind ratings. This design ingenuity allows you to install your solution with greater speed and ease.

Stay compliant with work health and safety acts

In the mining industry, there are always rules and regulations that need to be followed to ensure the safety of workers and the general public. That’s why we’re committed to working flexible hours to comply with your site’s safety policy. Whether you need to respect environmental management systems or adhere to work health and safety standards, we’re on board to align with protocol.

Get a cost-effective solution that’s built to las

At Wallmark, we offer cost effective alternatives to expensive rendered block wall systems, allowing you to keep to your project’s budget without having to compromise on the acoustic quality of your risk management solutions. Better yet, our products are fully certified by structural engineers and boast a long-lasting, 50-year service life.

Our top choice for reducing and managing noise emissions created by mining sites

Known for their superior sound reduction qualities, Dunewall systems are often installed on mining sites as they can be pre-engineered to heights of up to 12 metres while remaining easy-to-install and dismantle for greater flexibility. Dunewall’s smart noise reduction system can also be customised to provide not only acoustic protection, but also dust protection, making it an ideal choice for mining sites that are ever-exposed to harsh Australian weather conditions. If security is a concern, Dunewall systems can also be modified to include spikes or razor wire holders.
